Human Design is a lot of weird and wonderful things, but perhaps at its most basic it’s a typology system. Like Myers-Briggs, DISC or the Enneagram. It’s complex, and there are a lot of categories, but the most important is ‘Type’. The Types are a short-hand way to describe your basic operating mechanics; what energy you have access to, how to tell whether you’re working as you’re designed to or not, and what sort of vibe you’re putting out into the world.
These are the 5 Types as I currently understand them.
Generators are the lifeblood of the world. They have strong and consistent energy that gives them fuel to do the things they love. When they’re using their energy this way, they feel deep satisfaction. But when they’re using their energy to do the things they think they should do, or just know they can do, they can feel frustrated. When lit up, they shine, and people around them are drawn to them.
Manifestors are the initiators of the world. Their energy is not consistent, but when it’s on, it’s on. Don’t tell them what to do, just get out of their way and let them do it. They can then enjoy being in their flow in peace. If you block their flow, it’ll push their buttons. You can find them behind closed doors, getting on with their work or waiting for the next creative urge.
Manifesting Generators are Generators but with the initiatory energy of the Manifestors. They have lots of energy to do lots of different things. Don’t expect a linear process. Their satisfaction comes from being involved in multiple projects, pivoting from one thing to the next and maybe back again.
Projectors see the big picture. They like systems. They don’t have the energy of the other types and require more rest. They can be great guides and organisers, and when invited into that role it can work out well for everyone. But if not recognised or invited, they can feel bitter and resentful. Their vibe can feel a bit intrusive, a bit intense.
Reflectors are rare. They also don’t have consistent energy. It changes over time. When they go with the flow, they enjoy the surprises of life, but if not this can lead to disappointment. It’s important for them to find the right places and people for them. They’re strongly attuned to their environment and offer valuable wisdom when the fit is right.
Which type resonates with you?
I see myself in all of them … is there a quiz or something to help the drilling down process?
